27km produces extensive, diverse documentary material that needs to be handled by a careful and curious assistant editor. That's why we are currently looking for an assistant editor to support us on our documentary project as soon as possible. Ideally, you are based in Berlin and would like to work with us as a freelancer for a longer period of time or on a fixed-term contract (9-12 months).

27km produziert umfangreiches, vielseitiges Dokumentarmaterial, das in sorgfältige und neugierige Assistant-Editor-Hände gehört. Daher suchen wir ab sofort eine:n Assistant Editor, die/der uns auf unserem dokumentarischen Projekt unterstützt. Vorzugsweise bist du in Berlin und hast Lust, uns dort als Freelancer:in für längere Zeit oder in befristeter Anstellung (9-12 Monate).

• Reviewing, organizing, and structuring extensive documentary footage
• Creating and maintaining clean project structures
• Transcription, sync, multicam setups, pulls, stringouts, and story assemblies
• Preparing material for the editor (interviews, scenes, storylines)
• Assisting with the creation of initial rough cuts (selects, mood cuts, storylines)
• Technical quality management (backups, proxies, codecs, online prep)
• Exchanging ideas with directors, editors, and editors about material, dramaturgy, and workflow
• Assisting on set with data transfer (DIT-Light) if necessary

• Sichtung, Organisation und Strukturierung von umfangreichem Dokumentar-Footage
• Erstellung und Pflege sauberer Projektstrukturen
• Transkription, Sync, Multicam-Setups, Pulls, Stringouts & Story-Assemblies
• Vorbereitung von Materials für den Editor (Interviews, Szenen, Themenstränge)
• Unterstützung beim Anlegen erster Rohschnitte (Selects, Mood-Cuts, Storylines)
• Technisches Qualitätsmanagement (Backups, Proxies, Codecs, Online-Prep)
• Austausch mit Regie, Redaktion und Editor:innen über Material, Dramaturgie & Workflow
• Ggf. Unterstützung auf Set bei Datenübernahme (DIT-Light)

• Above all, enthusiasm for a major documentary project!
• Eye for detail & passion for documentary storytelling
• Structured, independent, and meticulous approach to work — even with large amounts of data
• Experience with Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve (familiarity with Creative Cloud in general)
• Technical understanding of codecs, file formats, proxies, online/offline
• Eagerness to learn, curiosity, openness to new tools & workflows
• Team player with flexibility, clarity & reliability
• Confident written and spoken German & English
